2009 Emmy Load In

It took longer than I thought it would, but we managed to get all the cables laid out and completed a full test of the system.

It's Saturday and I'm going to take it easy. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

I like the slide show idea.

What are you duties on Sunday?

My main job is operating the CBS satellite truck for CBS Newspath, but I'm also going to be the only guy there who knows the full cable layout.

If all goes well, that's the difficult part of day. If it doesn't go well, then I'll be jumping in and out of the truck putting out fires.

We have two reels of fiber optic cable connecting our two spots on the red carpet risers.

We have another run of standard video and audio cable that connects us to the pool feeds.

When we get there tomorrow, We'll have to pull out all the gear (decks, rattlers, cameras, cabling) out of the vans and set up everything up. I'll have three photographers helping me, so at least if it all comes crashing down, I'll have plenty of people to take the fall with me.

End of the night, we wrap up all the cable, pack all the gear into the vans, dive back to the station and put it all away.

So you'll be servicing all the CBS stations there and the regular KCBS/Kcal gang?

Bet you can't wait for a beer late tomorrow evening.

How long of a day 16-18 hours?
